Have you ever eaten (or drank) something you "shouldn’t" have done while trying to lose weight? Or even had a whole day go completely tits up and that led to you thinking (or saying):
"I’ll start again on Monday!"
(I swear, it could be Tuesday and a large number of people would still want to start ‘next Monday’)
This is the outcome occurs because you believe you’ve ruined the whole week and therefore feel like there isn’t any point in carrying on.
This is simply not true.
Why?
(For those who’d rather watch a training video you can click the pic below)
Ok, let’s look at it from a mathematical point of view. Every day that you under-eat and do some added exercise you’re creating a ‘calorie deficit’.
(I’ve covered this a million times so let’s move on)
Over the course of the week, you’re aiming to create a calorie deficit of roughly 3500 to (sometimes even) 7000.
This would give you ~1-2lb of weight loss…
If you go over on one of those days by, let’s say, 1000…that still leaves a deficit of 2500-6000.
In other words…
YOU.WILL.STILL.MAKE.PROGRESS!
Do you know what happens if you say "fuck it" and proceed to eat crap for the rest of the week until Monday rolls around?
YOU.GET.ZERO.PROGRESS.
At best. If you really go mad you could actually gain weight!
This isn’t your fault. You either:
1) Don’t know the fundamentals of weight loss.
2) Know them and simply haven’t looked it logically. You just think "oh shit, I’ve overeaten and ruined it. No point now".
If you have a bad meal, or worse, a bad day then deal with it and get back to work right away. SOME progress is better than none at all, right???
Even if you cocked up every week and only averaged a 0.5lb loss, over the course of 12 weeks you would still lose 6lbs.
That’s better than zero, right? (please be saying ‘yes’)
Progress, even small creates momentum and momentum increases motivation. Once you get that, there’ll be no stopping you.
Hopefully, this gives you a whole NEW way of looking at "bad days". It should change your whole thinking about them. In fact, they are only bad if you let them become bad.
